Schleswig

Arrived in the north.

Arrived. In Schleswig. The drive up here with the car loaded to the roof, the length of Germany in one go, was remarkably calm this time. Little traffic on the first of May. Not even a tailback at the Elbe tunnel. Nine hundred and fifty kilometres still leave you weary, mind. And much as I’m enjoying the northern air just now, the view over Schleswig’s harbour, it will take a few days before I’ve arrived up here in more than body. The last weeks in Munich were crammed with work and preparations for the boat, and they now give way to long days in Brodersby, working on Koraki. Until she’s ready to go back in the water I’m in a small lodging in Schleswig. We’ll see how long I need ashore.
